Trinity hires

wrestling coach

Trinity High School looked in-house for its new wrestling coach, hiring Mike Marino late Thursday night.

Marino served as an assistant coach with the varsity team last season. He replaces Jeff Bricker, who replaced Marino's brother, Angelo Marino, after the 2000-01 season.

The 2008-09 season was a trying one for the Hillers, who posted a 2-6 team record. Only three seniors were part of Trinity's lineup and just two wrestlers won at least 20 bouts.

No Hillers wrestler qualified for the PIAA tournament. Sophomore Kyle McWreath finished fourth at the WPIAL Championships, just missing out on a trip to Hershey for the state tournament. Junior Mike Ardeno made a run through the consolation bracket before losing in the semifinals.

Ardeno and McWreath were Trinity's 20-win wrestlers.
